Utah is one of the most unique states in the U.S., ranging from its culture influenced by the Latter Day Saints to its diverse economy centered on multilevel marketing, informational technology, and national park tourism.
The state’s art scene is smaller, due to the greater focus on different forms of tourism. However, some towns like Saint George are becoming bustling art enclaves. The capital of Utah, Salt Lake City, also is becoming a bustling art center. Museums like the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art and the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art also contribute to the art world in Utah.
Here are some WXLLSPACE artists contributing to the growing art world in Utah.
Good Happy Stuff
Trevor Dahl, or his moniker “Good Happy Stuff”, creates beautiful murals with mythical energy and narrative. These murals create tender images that also serve as honest renderings of human psyches. His work is simultaneously playful, visceral, contemplative, and absurd.
