Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the rich cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities around the world. From art and music to literature and cuisine, Hispanic culture is celebrated for its vibrancy, diversity, and creativity. In this blog post, we shine a spotlight on Hispanic WXLLSPACE mural artists whose colorful works of art tell stories, celebrate heritage, and inspire communities.

Today we highlight four bright individuals and their diverse art styles.

VNICE from Oklahoma

VNICE was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, and raised in Durango. He migrated to the United States at the age of 7. He is now a DACA recipient and completed his undergrad at the University of Tulsa. Much of the work is large-scale: canvas, walls, furniture, anything. The mediums that I have been focusing on lately are oil paint and spray paint. Other works that I have include sowing fabrics and leather, pottery, 3D form (clay), and digital rendering.

CONGO from Michigan

Oliver Crisostomo, also known as CONGO, is a graffiti artist from Peru who has been dedicated to his craft for over 12 years. He loves traveling the world to create art and uses his professional graphic design skills to enhance his murals. With each new project, he enjoys challenging himself and exploring different aspects of art.

Here is some of CONGO’s work:

JC Rivera from Illinois

JC Rivera, a Puerto Rican contemporary artist based in the US, has spent the last decade creating uplifting street art featuring characters like 'The Bear Champ'. His work aims to bring hope and inspiration to communities worldwide, resonating with both children and adults during tough times. With a message to "Roll with the Punches", JC Rivera's popularity has soared, making him the most prolific street artist in Chicago and gaining recognition in Miami, with national sponsorships from brands like American Express, Adidas, and McDonald’s.

Here is some of JC’s work:

Morazul from Florida

Morazul, a Latin American street artist born in Colombia, began her street art journey 15 years ago in Buenos Aires, Argentina, becoming one of the first women involved in large-scale mural interventions there. Now, she works as a muralist for private clients, governments, and publicity agencies across Latin America, focusing her art on expressing feminine energy, nature, love, and human divinity. Using vibrant colors and techniques like glitter, Morazul's murals aim to elevate the atmosphere and spread magic while also exploring performances and video art, blending paint with dance, set design, and costume design.
