Nelson Rivas, better known by his graffiti name "Cekis", is a highly regarded mural artist from Chile who has left an indelible mark on the street art scene. Born in Santiago 1976 , Cekis began painting on the streets in the mid 90's and quickly gained notoriety for his vibrant and intricate graffiti murals. In 2004 Cekis moved from Chile to New York city in the search of artist growing and since then he has been an active painter participating on different mural projects, working with many institutions and private clients. His large scale public murals and studio work intends to maintain visual evidence of his Latin American and Graffiti roots while at the same time trying to communicate to a universal language of the human experience. His narrative compositions aim to reflect an understanding of supreme interconnectedness and look to offer inspiring invitations to overcome and coexist.
