About Christinaxu
I am a Taiwanese- Pacific Islander- American queer female visual artist and muralist. I began painting in college for self care and quickly learned that I loved creating large scale paintings. I have no formal art education beyond a college painting 101 class but have learned through self-study, workshops, and observing local artists. My work focuses on portraiture and spans styles such as Fauvism, Impressionism, realism, and expressionism. I use acrylic paint to mimic the feel of oil painting. Themes in my work include : embracing life, resilience, love, hope, change, belonging, truth, justice, and peace. I started painting murals properly in 2016, starting out as an assistant. Not until 2019 did I start leading my own murals. I am included in a group feature by Bloomberg highlighting “Artists in Resilience" during the pandemic, as well as KQED Arts, and other local magazines and TV stations. My portfolio includes one solo show in Laredo, Texas, and participation in group exhibitions in California, New York, Texas, London, Rome, and France. I have murals up and down California, South Texas, New York and Guam
