I create highly detailed artwork that combines realism with a sense of whimsy and imagination. My work is especially drawn to portraiture, nature & animals, and the small details that make a subject feel alive, whether I'm working digitally, painting a mural, creating a faux finish, or designing artwork for a specific space. My background in illustration and design lets me approach artwork as both an image and a finished environment. I enjoy taking realistic subjects and finding unexpected, imaginative ways to make them work on a wall, architectural surface, or other large-scale application. I'm an artist, muralist, illustrator, and designer based in Herkimer, New York. I grew up with the Adirondacks as a major part of my surroundings and spent much of my childhood visiting family in the 1000 Islands region, so nature, wildlife, water, and the character of small towns have always been part of my visual vocabulary. I've been drawing and making art for most of my life, with a particular focus on realism and portraiture. My work eventually expanded into graphic design, digital illustration, murals, faux finishes, photography, and other forms of visual design. Through Impish Illustrations, I now work on everything from detailed custom artwork to large-scale murals and custom projects throughout Central New York and beyond. I especially enjoy projects that give me the opportunity to combine technical realism with something unexpected, imaginative, or a little unconventional.
