J Muzacz is an innovative public artist with a keen eye for social dynamics. Committed to building positive relationships with clients and collaborators through compassionate communication, he brings a wide breadth of expertise across artistic processes. Originally from Houston and a University of Texas graduate in Sociology, Muzacz went on to live and work abroad, painting murals worldwide from Japan to New Zealand and beyond. Now based in Austin, Texas, Muzacz dedicates himself to community building through teaching, mentoring, and creating spaces for artists to uplift each other. Muzacz has created over a dozen large-scale mosaics and co-founded The Mosaic Workshop, an artist-run mosaic studio in East Austin. Throughout many projects, Muzacz invites community members and aspiring artists to participate in the public art process, most notably in his signature “digital impressionism” technique, allowing hundreds of people of all ages and abilities to help lay tiles in massive mosaic murals.
