A bold geometric bird's wing dominates the left side of "30 metre Country Road Panoramas" by Jesse Harte Art, its layered feathers rendered in deep blue, teal, and brown. The mural stretches 30 metres across a barrier wall at Flemington School in Hawke's Bay Region, New Zealand, transitioning from this striking figurative foreground into a pastoral landscape panorama. The composition moves the viewer's eye rightward through rural scenery: rolling green hills, native trees, farm animals, and a truck painted in warm ochres and reds.
The artist employs both figurative and geometric approaches to structure the scene. On the left, angular, interlocking shapes suggest movement and depth within the wing form. These geometric patterns contrast with the softer, more representational treatment of the landscape beyond—cultivated fields, distant tree lines, and clear sky rendered in naturalistic greens, blues, and earth tones. The horizontal format of the wall amplifies the panoramic effect, making the mural read as a continuous narrative across its length.
Created in collaboration with Flemington School students, the work reflects the school's rural setting and community values. The diverse subjects—native bird, livestock, agricultural vehicles, and expansive countryside—emerge from a shared local perspective, anchoring the public artwork to its specific environment and the creative contributions of young residents.
