Jorge Pomar
About Jorge Pomar
I was formed in the early 2000s between painting and city exploration.
With a remarked interest in urban landscape, I like to experiment with the symbolic charge that colors and geometric shapes can have in different contexts. My body of work displays a varied materiality that encompasses painting, textiles, ceramics and printed publications.
My exploration of the wall as a surface of enunciation is deployed in the development of large-scale murals in public and private spaces, as well as the deconstruction in exhibition contexts. I am interested in the study of cities and the limits of architecture, making questions about contexts through the use of color, observation of the sky and its encounter with the urban landscape.
Collaborative practices characterize a relevant part of my creative process. Based on a long career in interventions in public space, especially graffiti and murals, I display a collective way of doing things focused on affective experiences.
My public art projects can be found in more than twenty countries such as Argentina, Brasil, France, Italy, Ukraine, USA and Bosnia-Herzegovina. My body of work also opens a varied materiality that encompasses textiles, drawings, photography, ceramics and printed publications.
I live between Buenos Aires and Paris.
