“The City of Lakewood and 40 West Arts wanted to paint a large public staircase situated between a Whole Foods and Target, as part of a public arts initiative. Their goal was to increase the cultural vibrance of the shopping center, drawing in new visitors and creating an experiential art destination. Imagine a giant bucket of paint got dumped from the sky and cascaded down the stairs to create a vibrant, anomalous landmark. “Chromatic Cascade” can be seen across the street as pedestrians approach a crosswalk. As the viewer walks up and down the stairs, the design transforms into a new perspective from every angle. My mural draws in foot traffic through the shopping center and creates a fun, unexpected experience for people going about their day.colorful urban installation.”
