Michael Ferrarell

I’m interested in painting visual narratives that demonstrate a unique sense of past and present, celebrating elements of heritage, nostalgia, natural beauty, industry, and civic pride. My current mural practice focuses heavily on site-responsive aesthetics. I’m passionate about creating murals that render a community through a variety of texts, patterns, and illustrations inspired by historic and nostalgic imagery, as well as the various people who occupy or frequent the space. This unique exercise of combining localized elements, synonymous with nostalgia and community, is my attempt at connecting with a broad range of locals while simultaneously educating them and visitors alike. The intent is to stimulate community engagement and spark creative growth through imagery that's not just aesthetically pleasing, but also educational and emphasizes distinct local energy. Currently I’m applying for mural opportunities nationwide and hope to be a guest in your community to further my most significant body of work yet. I’m hoping to execute my process in a way that educates, honors, and preserves in an aesthetically pleasing manner easily accessible to the greater community and beyond.
