Painted on the Museum of Art History in Lancaster, CA, I wanted to showcase some of the California desert’s amazing wildlife including a noble puma and a tortoise carrying earth and flora on its back. While painting this piece, the Santa Barbara fires raged on, filling the air with smoke and ash.
