About Allison Bamcat
Based in Los Angeles, California

Allison Bamcat is a color-obsessed painter living in Los Angeles. Through her use of texture, expression, and vivid color, she seeks to invoke feelings of nostalgia, magic, intensity, and gravity. The creatures, props and plants in her paintings serve as guides on her personal journey. Bamcat works in Acryla gouache for her fine art painting and also creates large-scale murals throughout the US.

Long Beach Walls

Long Beach, California

A portrait of my friend Christina. I wanted to convey a sleeping woman with a “friend” or creature watching nearby. The woman is a bat, sleeping in the daytime while her friend keeps an eye out so she can get some rest. This was in dedication to the women in my life who burn the candle at both ends.

Antelope Valley Walls

Lancaster, California

Painted on the Museum of Art History in Lancaster, CA, I wanted to showcase some of the California desert’s amazing wildlife including a noble puma and a tortoise carrying earth and flora on its back. While painting this piece, the Santa Barbara fires raged on, filling the air with smoke and ash. This was an especially challenging mural, as staying safe from the perilous weather plus COVID precautions were paramount.

Arts Fest Montana

Great Falls, Montana

Right off the main drag in Great Falls, I wanted to create something colorful and different. Though I love showcasing native animals, there was already a lot of art celebrating that. I had the opportunity to explain the difference between an aardvark and an anteater to local families and kids who stopped by. It was so fun!

Created during COVID, this festival was meant to brighten up the neighborhood and encourage visitors to enjoy our artwork by driving and walking through in safety-minded tours. All artists installed a secondary group piece on the main strip of the town that says “You Are Loved” to further strike home that message of togetherness during a pandemic when folks were isolated.

Biology Building

Los Angeles, California

A student-led project for the Valley International Preparatory High School. Due to COVID restrictions, the senior class was unable to travel on their much-anticipated senior  eld trip, so the students themselves invested the money into a new campus mural. The original ask was for half of the building to be painted as per the budget, but I o ered to paint the entire building at no extra cost. Being the biology building, I centered my design around native plants with their Latin names added like a SoCal  eld guide. I added the California Quail as it is the state bird. Lastly, I added a framed area for the senior class to sign their names as a surprise for their incredible contribution to the future classes at VIP.

Hawaii Walls

Honolulu, Hawaii

A non-pro t project for the Pu’uhale Elementary School, sharing a memorial to one of the original supporters of the mural festival who passed away. Shawn Hosner was a major supporter of art in all forms, so the festival wanted to memorialize her through her love of music, Hawaii’s natural wonders, her philanthropy as a curator, and her love of cats. While painting this piece, the local stray cats would come and watch me work.
