BellaPhame blends urban landscapes with nature through interactive murals that foster community connections.
BellaPhame is the creative partnership of Isabella Amaral (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Justin Phame (Brooklyn, New York), two visual artists with over 15 years of experience. They began collaborating in Portugal in 2017, driven by a desire to inspire people to connect and share experiences. That spirit is reflected in their visual identity: green and purple, colors that only exist through blending, chosen to symbolize the importance of collaboration. At the heart of every BellaPhame mural is the intention to forge a bond within the community. Their work explores the relationship between humans and nature, weaving elements of the urban environment together with local fauna and flora. Their creative process is organic, born from direct experience with the social and biological ecology of each site. What sets their murals apart is an interactive layer: a hidden word search puzzle based on local vocabulary, transforming a static image into a shared experience built on collective participation and a sense of belonging. They have participated in projects and mural festivals in Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Portugal, and the U.S., including iconic locations such as New York City and Wynwood, Miami, alongside solo exhibitions in Oporto and the U.S. and residencies in North Carolina, California, and Minas Gerais, Brazil.
