“This artwork by Clyde painted for Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel. Using the shadows from the overhanging shade structure, Clyde designed a mural that would incorporate the lighting differences throughout the day. The Glass prism held up to the face of the girl and the canyon wall background both benefited from the effects of the shadows. To connect the mural to the hotel's history, I included a key inside the glass prism that the girl is looking through. Serial numbers engraved onto the key, represent the three different dates that the hotel was famously rebuilt. ”
