In 2017 I started working for a brewery in Charlotte, NC where I’d spend down time drawing chalk art around the taproom. The owners commissioned me to install a mural and in 2018 I began painting full time. With no classical training my process comes entirely from trial and error. I enjoy being outside of my comfort zone - attempting new levels of detail, style, and larger scale. This helps maintain variance in my work and keeps me excited and motivated for each new piece. When starting a project I like to develop a connection with the client, hear their story, and do the necessary research before identifying a direction. From an artist's perspective there is always a desire to design in terms of what I like and what will best compliment my portfolio. However, I believe the most successful projects are those in which a balance is found and I enjoy trying to maintain a versatile style of work that allows for such balance.
