“NHID and Channel House commissioned artists Joe Geis and Jeremiah Britton, co-founders and partners of independent creative studio ALSO DEPT. to bring in their dynamic, energetic, and collaborative approach to creating large-scale abstract work to the district. Their new 86’x58’ mural “Three Pointer at the Buzzer by the Creek,” which can be seen from blocks way, will act as a way to draw people into the new district and development. The color palette of this mural acts as a reflection of the sunsets, forest, flowers, and vegetation on the other side of Maker’s Alley. Not only does it represent the reflection, but all of the shapes are inspired by a bird’s eye view of local creeks, rivers, lakes, and tree tops, while the white line work acts as an abstract representation of oak leaves, inspired by Raleigh’s nickname, “The City of Oaks.” ”
