The completed mural, Westerly House, by artist Joe Geis, envelops the lobby of a Nashville, Tennessee residence in a breath of abstract expression. This expansive 2,400 square foot hand-painted installation features a dynamic arrangement of colorful geometric shapes and organic forms that emerge from the walls, inviting residents and visitors into a captivating space.
The mural's composition integrates six three-sided arches that lead towards a central courtyard, creating a natural flow that guides the eye through the room. The interplay between playful shapes and fluid lines establishes a sense of depth, enhancing the immersive experience. Dominant colors like soft greens, pinks, blues, and yellows punctuate the artwork, adding energy and warmth to the lobby's atmosphere.
Geis’s technique reveals a layered approach, with broad strokes that create a lively texture, contrasting against the sleek architectural lines of the surrounding space. This stylish mural harmonizes with the modern design of Westerly House, enhancing the building’s character while providing a welcoming focal point in the entryway.
