Dante Arcade
About Dante Arcade
He began painting his first pieces in the mid-90s, in his native coastal town of Murcia. Located in the Mar Menor, southeast of Spain. Motivated by urban culture and as a consequence of listening to rap music and skating with Skate.
Since he was little he was very attracted to drawing since in his house there were always lots of comics. Anime and Cartoons also fascinated him.
He used to travel to Catalonia to spend the holidays with his father. Which around that time opened an arcade arcade machine room. All this would be recorded in his retina, forming his current imaginary.
His main influences have their origin in the 90s, with the New Wave, the classic comic and with the golden age of Arcade video games. His work, in addition to being nourished by vintage and nostalgic, also feeds on everything related to virtual space. Retro Futurism or Vaporwave, the digital subculture born in the codes of the internet and the Web.
Dante merges different records. It is something similar to mixing in a cocktail shaker the spirit of Miami Vice, the Pop Art aesthetic, the Arcade world and the classic comic, along with the culture of graffiti and virtual space. All this forms the style that characterizes him today.
Vibrant colors, Internet codes, arcade aesthetics or vector patterns typical of the 90s are frequent in his work. Always without losing the essence of the street, where he began as a child and continues to use as a space for expression today.
